Going Online With Preowned Games?? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!

I have got 2 preowned games (by EA Games) and i'm trying to play online with them, but the codes have been used by the previous owner. Is there anyway to cancel these codes and get another? or is it just a case of only being able to play online if you buy the games brand new? Please Help!!
